Terms of Use

The Terms of Use (the "Terms") set forth the terms and conditions that apply to your use of SFHostels.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to comply with all of the Terms set forth herein. The right to use the Site is personal to you and is not transferable to any other person or entity.

The Site is a product of Golden Gate Council of American Youth Hostels, Inc. (the "Council"), nonprofit organization. The Site is maintained as a courtesy to those who may choose to access its travel resources and online reservations service (the "Users"). The information presented herein is for informative purposes only.

  1. The Council grants permission to Users to visit the Site and to download and copy the information, documents and materials (collectively, "Materials") from the Site for the User's personal, non-commercial use, without any right to resell or redistribute them or to compile or create derivative works therefrom.
  2. The Council administers this Site. All Material on this Site appears subject to the Terms.
  3. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the opinions, findings and conclusions expressed in the Materials on this Site are those of the various Council staff members, consultants and advisers who prepared the work and do not necessarily represent the views of the Council, Hostelling International USA or the International Youth Hostel Federation.

Online Reservations

The online reservations service (the "Service") requires the User to be a cardholder of a Visa, MasterCard, Discover or JCB credit card. The Service requires the User to share the credit card number in order to hold the reservation. The card will not be charged and Users will have the option to choose an alternate payment method at check-in.

Each reservation made online is guaranteed. The confirmation number that appers immediately after billing information is sent to the Service will guarantee your bed at the hostel.

Reservations made using the Service can be modified or cancelled until 12 midnight the day prior to check-in. To modify or cancel using the Service the User is required to have the confirmation number and reference number provided at the time of booking. The User may also modify or cancel by calling the reservations desk at the location the reservation was made.

Users who fail to cancel a reservation according to the Terms or fail to show for a reservation, will be billed one night's accommodation per person on the credit card provided to the Service during the reservation process. After the check-in process has been completed or the credit card is charged due to failure to comply with the cancellation policy, live records of the credit card information will be removed from the Council's servers.

Force Majeure

The Council cannot accept any liability where the reservation could not be fulfilled due to circumstances which we could not, even with due care, have foreseen or avoided. Such events may include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, civil commotion or strife, hostilities, strikes or other industrial dispute, natural disaster, fire, act of God, terrorist activities, technical problems with transportation, closures of airports, ports and/or ferries, quarantine, epidemics, weather conditions, government action or other events outside our control.
