George Winston to perform solo harmonica concert
Coast-side performance will benefit program for inner-city youth
The artist best known for innovative piano compositions and performances will perform a solo harmonica concert for Hostelling International’s Hostel Adventure Program on May 14 at HI-Point Montara Lighthouse.
George Winston has recorded eight solo harmonica tracks, featured on several albums from Windham Hill , Hungry for Music and other labels.
The concert will include selections from Appalachian, Celtic and Cajun influences, as well as Mongolian, Blues and more. Champagne from local Obester Winery and appetizers from a mix of international cuisines will be served during intermission.
The concert will benefit the Hostel Adventure Program, an experiential education program that introduces inner-city children to the natural world and environmental concepts. Using HI’s coastal hostels as a base for exploration, HAP serves more than 1,400 kids per year.
