Volunteer with the Marin Headlands Hostel on National Public Lands Day
Posted by sfhi on Aug 30, 2006

Local residents and hostel guests are invited to join HI-Marin Headlands on September 30 for the 13th annual National Public Lands Day. This one-day labor of love is the largest annual coast-to-coast, single-day volunteer restoration effort for the country’s public lands, giving Americans across the nation the chance to give back to all of the places they use to hike, bike, climb, swim, explore, picnic, or just plain unwind.
Volunteers will meet at the Marin Headlands Hostel at 9:30 a.m. for a continental breakfast and briefing, before hitting the sands for a two-hour clean-up of South Rodeo Beach/Little Beach from 10 a.m.-noon.
"Thousands of volunteers will prove on National Public Lands Day how much they care about their irreplaceable public places," says NPLD director Robb Hampton. "Each year, more and more Americans come out to lend a hand on this special Saturday in September, and we invite all of you to join us."
In appreciation for their help, all volunteers will receive a pass good for free entry on any day during the next year at public land sites managed by any of these agencies: Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, or USDA Forest Service.
