The Fisherman's Wharf Hostel is located in a waterfront National Park, west of Fisherman's Wharf and north of the Marina district.
If you want to stick close to home, the hostel has an on-site cafe serving three meals a day, and Greens vegetarian restaurant, also in Fort Mason, is a popular spot for a nice meal with views.
For those venturing outside the park, a huge variety of options are available. Clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl at Fisherman's Wharf is a perennial favorite, and nearby North Beach has dozens of excellent Italian restaurants, many with outdoor sidewalk seating.
The Marina district, just south of the park, is another convenient option—try Zushi Puzzle (sushi) or Alive (raw food), both recommended for good food at bargain prices.
North Beach is popular for bar-hopping, with a variety of casual places clustered within a few blocks; it's also great for more laid-back evenings at one of several cafes that evoke the neighborhood's bygone Beat era. For something a bit more sophisticated, try the Marina district, where upscale wine bars are more the norm.
