Call for Hostel Adventure Programs Committee Members
January 14, 2008

Have you already broken most of the New Year’s resolutions you made just a couple of weeks ago? Have you only gone to the gym once (despite the hefty sign-up fee you paid) or already broken out the pack of smokes (even with the expensive patch system sitting on your dresser)? Well, if your list of resolutions included volunteering in the community, expanding your network of friends and contacts, and making a positive impact at both the local and international level, Hostelling International may still be able to help you keep some of the promises you made to yourself for 2008.
HI is currently seeking volunteers to join its new Hostel Adventure Programs Committee, which will help steer the growth of the Golden Gate Council’s four educational programs: Outdoor Hostel Adventures, Cultural Kitchen, the Community Walls mural project, and World Travel 101. Together, these programs provide a range of environmental, cultural, and community-development programs for urban youth from the Bay Area and beyond, as well as workshops for youth and adults that promote safe, affordable, worldwide travel that is culturally sensitive and environmentally responsible.
The goal of the Programs Committee is to ensure that, as we continue to improve and expand our offerings, these programs remain academically relevant, culturally responsive, and capable of sustainable growth. The committee is seeking active members of the Bay Area community who are interested in the further development of cultural, outdoor, and travel education programs throughout the area. Teachers, business owners, students, youth organization leaders, artists, and others are encouraged to apply. Youth and seniors are strongly encouraged to apply.
