California Shuttle Bus expands service between Los Angeles and San Francisco
June 25, 2008

California Shuttle Bus has expanded its direct service between Los Angeles and San Francisco, offering two daily departures from each city seven days a week. With affordable rates and convenient pick-up and drop-off locations, the shuttle is a good option for budget travelers looking to escape high gas prices and skyrocketing airfares this summer.
The shuttle departs from each city around noon and midnight, skirting rush-hour traffic and dropping off passengers at their destinations in time for breakfast or dinner. The four pick-up/drop-off locations in San Francisco and the five in the L.A. area are centrally located at hostels and major transportation hubs. For instance, you can take California Shuttle Bus from the front door of HI’s Santa Monica Hostel to the Union Square stop in San Francisco, just one block from the San Francisco Downtown Hostel, and five blocks from the San Francisco City Center Hostel.
California Shuttle Bus also offers door-to-door service for residents in the Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, and Venice Beach areas of Los Angeles for an additional $5 fee.
"We have noticed increasing demand for our services as the rising oil prices have made travel between Los Angeles and San Francisco more expensive," says Kazuuhiro Nakagawa, founder of California Shuttle Bus. "We believe that our shuttle bus concept is the most economical and environmentally friendly solution to traveling between these two areas."
Rates begin at $5 for one-way travel, though fares are more commonly in the $39 range, depending on departure date and time. Round-trip travel can be purchased in advance for a flat rate of $90. For the traveling family, infants up to 2 years old ride free, and children ages 3-6 ride for half-price.
